What excites you about coming down to Texas for an event like this?

I enjoy working with Stickstar and the kids in their program are ready to learn.  These kids are very respectful and want to be coached.

Coaching Path

Following his time playing at Division III Greensboro College, Coach Sothoron took over as the Pride’s Defensive Coordinator for the next two years. After spending two years on the sidelines for the Pride, Coach Sothoron had the opportunity to become an Assistant Athletic Director and Varsity Assistant Head Lacrosse Coach at his former High School St. Mary’s Ryken in Leonardtown, Maryland.

In 2006, Coach Sothoron was honored with the U.S. Lacrosse National Assistant Coach of The Year award and was subsequently promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Men’s Lacrosse Team for the following season. With Coach Sothoron’s guidance, St. Mary’s Ryken finished the 2007 season with a 19-2 overall record and a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Championship. For their efforts, the program received its first-ever National Ranking.

In 2008, Coach Sothoron became the Head Coach at Division II Wheeling Jesuit University where he would spend the next 5 years transforming the Cardinal program. The program had a record of 4-8 prior to his arrival in 2008 and he was able to bring them to 11-6 record by his last season at the helm in 2012. In 2014, Coach Sothoron took his first Division I coaching position when joined the Robert Morris coaching staff as their Defensive Coordinator. In his year with the Colonials, Coach Sothoron’s defense finished 3rd in the nation for caused turnovers while also garnering a .700 penalty-kill percentage.

Coach Sothoron has spent the last 4 years with Division I Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally brought in to serve as the Knight’s Offensive Coordinator, Coach Sothoron has shown his versatility in recent years and has moved back to coaching the defensive side of the ball. In 2016, Coach Sothoron’s Knights earned the program’s first-ever postseason berth in their conference (SoCon).

Playing Resume

Coach Sothoron began his collegiate lacrosse career at Herkimer Community College where he was nominated Team Captain, Team MVP, and 2nd Team All-American during his 21-1 run which saw his team make it all the way to the National Championship. Following his 2 year career at Herkimer CC, Coach Sothoron transferred to Division III Greensboro College where he start in goal for the next 2 years while earning his degree.
