As the calendar turns to 2018, that means summer is on the not-so-distant horizon. StickStar Select teams enter their 15th summer of travel, as Dallas Select turns 11 and Texas United turns 7. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! As the longest running, select program in the State, our Precedent is not something we take for granted. We are excited to get back on the field and earn it. Already, in 2018, StickStar squads have compiled a 9-2 record with our 2021s and 2022s competing at one of the toughest tourneys in the West, the Adrenaline Challenge. The only losses came in the Final 4 and the Championship, respectively.
StickStar select teams have consistently played at a high level, with plenty of success along the way, while also having players consistently matriculate. We have had more players matriculate to play at the next level than any other program in the State. To take a look at some of them check out our Commitment Page (some, not all!) Our 2018 class had over 30 players heading on to compete at the NCAA level. In addition, last summer’s squads were comprised of players from 40 different programs across the State, a United Front. StickStar’s travel teams provide a unique experience different than every program. For more information on the StickStar Experience, click here.
StickStar is excited to announce a impressive change to the summer schedule. Crucial changes to the summer schedule need implementation as the years move along due to changes in the recruiting cycle and quality of tourneys. Crab Feast is arguably one of the best tournaments in the country every year; in 2018, we will have four teams competing there. We will pair that with the Inside Lacrosse Invitational and Summer Gold tourneys on the front and back ends to cut down on travel costs to Baltimore. We are excited about Crab Feast but know that it will take an increased dedication to commitment and execution to compete at the highest level.
Execution does not just happen. It is a function of training. StickStar will have a variety of training opportunities throughout the coming months, so, please, stay tuned to our Training Page. While opportunities will be plentiful, the key weekends begin with the Spring Break bookends and the State Championship Seminar. We will also layer in a multitude of affiliate training opportunities on top of our StickStar schedule. This is where students of the game can get their dose of our Component-Based, Instructional Methodology. In addition, we will ramp up the release of our #StickStarHabits clips to demonstrate the skills most commonly displayed and learned throughout our program!
